Why Tallow?
Share
Tallow has been used for skincare for centuries, long before modern, chemical products existed. Today, tallow is making a comeback for one simple reason: it works.
Tallow is deeply nourishing, naturally compatible with human skin, and incredibly effective at supporting healthy, balanced skin.
Why Tallow Is Good for Skin
Tallow closely resembles the natural oils our skin produces. This allows it to absorb easily, moisturize deeply, and support the skin barrier without clogging pores or causing irritation.
Instead of sitting on top of the skin, tallow actually feeds it. Applying tallow to your skin is like taking a multi-vitamin.

Why We Use Tallow
Most of our products are tallow-based because it’s effective, time-tested, and nourishing. We believe skincare should be simple, honest, and made with ingredients your skin recognizes.
Tallow vs. Seed Oils
Many skincare products use seed oils that are high in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). These fats are more unstable and can oxidize easily, especially when exposed to heat and sunlight.
Oxidation on the skin may contribute to irritation and barrier stress over time, ageing the skin prematurely and triggering skin reactions.
Tallow, on the other hand, is naturally low in PUFAs and bioavailable (our skin recognises it). Its fatty acid profile closely resembles human sebum, allowing it to nourish the skin without the same risk of oxidation.
Tallow vs. Synthetic Creams
Most conventional creams are water based and rely on emulsifiers, preservatives, and synthetic ingredients to maintain texture and shelf life and keep their profits high.
Tallow-based skincare is more concentrated and nutrient-dense, delivering moisture and support to the skin barrier with fewer ingredients and less potential for sensitivity.
Always Grass-Fed
We source our tallow from a small UK farm where cows are free to roam and raised on a grass-fed diet. Grass-fed tallow is naturally richer in vitamins and comes from animals with lower exposure to toxins.
